Memorial website in the memory of your loved one

Deirdre ("Dee") Hobbs Sargent

This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Deirdre ("Dee") Hobbs Sargent. Dee was born in Newport News, VA and after a long fight against Pulmonary Fibrosis, she passed on to her next great adventure on Friday, December 22, 2006, Dee was 56 years young.

Dee was a founding and active member of the
Lillith Grove Women's Center and we shall all miss her terribly.
Dee, thank you for sharing in our dream!

As was so eloquently written by her longtime friend Deb (who lovingly took on the responsibility of keeping all of Dee's friends informed of her status with weekly email updates):

"At around 10:10 a.m., Dee was taken off the ventilator and about 40 minutes later she moved calmly into her next life. (Those at her side reported that Dee went peacefully.)  I want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. I have received e-mails from several of you and they are greatly appreciated. My heart is so very sad right now. But the skies are crying with me tonight and I know Dee is at peace and whole once again. Dancing and laughing and clowning and being completely Dee.

I've been so blessed to know her and have so many wonderful memories. And your friendship blessed Dee greatly and brought her great joy. Bless you all. May sweetness temper your sorrow and laughter shine through your tears. It's just what Dee would have wanted."

Deb is right... Dee was a loving person who could ALWAYS be counted upon to share a heart-felt smile, beautiful laughter and advice tempered by such a sweet and peaceful soul.

Dee would want us all to
LIVE and to LAUGH and to LOVE!

Dee was an artist, a writer, a mother and grandmother... a daughter and a sister.... She was also a friend to so many.

Dee, your body is now free from pain and limitation.
May you fly freely.

We will remember Dee forever.
